Best Father's Day Ideas: When's Father's Day 2022?

Has anyone else noticed that Father’s Day seems to be only for guys that golf, drink, or can swing a hammer? Lest we forget the panoptic gifting of the ubiquitous tie: giving of the noose of love and appreciation. We have all gifted the tie, but now let’s put that behind us and create a Father’s Day Dad enjoys. Let’s create the memory!

First, your Father you are creating the moment for needs some defining, so lets make a list:

1. What’s your favorite way to relax?

2. What’s the best gift you’ve ever received?

3. What’s the worst gift you’ve ever received, and what did you do about it?

4. What type of music are you into?

5. Where’s the next place on your travel bucket list and why?

6. What are your hobbies, and how did you get into them?

7. What was the last thing you read?

8. What was the last TV show you binge-watched?

9. Do you have a favorite holiday? Why or why not?

10. If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

11. What is the best celebratory event you enjoyed?

12. Which meal is your favorite: breakfast, lunch, or dinner?

13. Would you rather cook or order in?

14. What's your favorite board game?

15. Is there any product that you couldn't live without?

The goal is to start to get a direction or blueprint for celebrating your Father. This questionnaire can be tailored to your individual you are honoring, absolutely!

After you have enough answers for the definition you can theme up your Father’s Day Celebration. Here are some ideas:

  1. Game Day: bowling, mini golf, bumper cars, pool, or darts, then dinner out. At home, it could be corn hole, backgammon tournament (substitute any of Dad’s favorite board games here), or heads up. Add prizes to the winners, maybe a crown or a banner, be silly! Cook in and create Game appetizers to nibble on while the tournament is going on.

  2. Travel Day: Go to a museum or botanical garden (if Dad gardens) then go to Dad’s favorite restaurant with his favorite cuisine i.e. Italian, Chinese, Mexican. Set the theme from Dad’s favorite travel destination he has been to or is still on his bucket list. Let’s use Italy for example: Dress up, cook his favorite pasta, pizza, or order it in. Gifts of framed photos from the great trip, books and music.

  3. The Chef: If he likes to cook there are so many options. First thing everyone needs to wear during this celebration are chefs hats…everyone (remember being silly is a recipe for fun). Wear the hats, aprons, music to cook by, gift dad a cooking class.

  4. King for the Day: This one is flexible for any Dad. You can make the crown for him to wear or make a Cut out of Dad’s face and have everyone wear it; signifying ‘I want to be like Dad’. It’s Dad appreciation at it’s finest. Don’t forget the appreciation coupons.

  5. Road Trip: Plan a close to home or not so close to home weekend extravaganza. Find a resort or rental with activities centered all around your greatest Dad ever. Make sure there’s a cozy robe, slippers, and his favorite beverage. Be on board with his activities be it boating, hiking, football, music, and so on!

If he loves to read, relaxing, just be waited on, fawned over, left alone, or maybe he will go golfing, wearing a tie, hammer in his bag, with a round on the 19th hole. The key is to put some thought and planning into it. It is Dad’s Day after all, June 19, 2022!
